Dear all

The Centre for Cross-Border Commercial Law in Asia, Singapore Management University, York Law School and the Singapore Academy of Law will convene the second conference in the “Modern Studies in the Law of Trusts and Wealth Management” series from 27-28 July 2017 in Singapore.  The website of the first conference may be found here http://www.sal.org.sg/conference/Trusts2015/default.htm The theme of the conference is “The Use and Abuse of Trusts and Other Wealth Management Devices”. The theme of the conference focuses on current developments and challenges facing trust law, and those who study or practise it, in the present political climate. The keynote speaker is Mr. Justice Snowden and confirmed speakers include Rose-Marie B Antoine (Uni of the West Indies), Tobias Barkley (La Trobe), Warren Barr (Liverpool), David Chaikin (Sydney), Paul Davies (Oxford), Simone Degeling (UNSW), Simon Douglas (Oxford), David English (Missouri), Thomas Gallanis (Iowa), Jamie Glister (Sydney), John Glover (Monash), Lusina Ho (HKU), Adam Hofri-Winogradow (Hebrew Uni of Jerusalem), Mark Hsiao (Leicester), Alastair Hudson (Exeter), James Lee (KCL), Rebecca Lee (HKU), Michael Littlewood (Auckland), Lou Jianbo (Peking), David Pollard (Freshfields), Istvan Sandor (Eötvös Loránd University), Duncan Sheehan (Leeds), Masayuki Tamayura (Rikkyo), Peter Turner (Cambridge), Reid Weisbord (Rutgers), Sarah Wilson (York), Samuel Williams (Oxford), Simone Wong (Kent) and Wu Ying-Chieh (NTU).

There are limited slots left for presenters and the conference organisers are happy to consider offers for papers. Presenters from the general call for papers will be expected to meet their own travel costs and to pay the conference registration fee of S$500 (excluding Goods and Services Tax of 7%). Unfortunately, the conference organisers do not have any funding to help meet cost of travel or the registration fee.  The organisers are particularly keen to hear from Asian scholars and young scholars in the field. If you would like to offer a paper, please submit a working title and an abstract (of no more than 1500 words) by 31 March 2017 by email to all four of us: Richard Nolan (richard.nolan@york.ac.uk ), Tang Hang Wu (hwtang@smu.edu.sg ), Kelvin Low (kelvinlow@smu.edu.sg ) and Yip Man (manyip@smu.edu.sg ).

If you would like to attend the conference as a delegate, the conference registration fee is S$700 (excluding Goods and Services Tax of 7%). Please connect with Teh Y-Lyn (teh_y-lyn@sal.org.sg) or Carolyne Lim (carolyne_lim@sal.org.sg) from the Singapore Academy of Law to indicate your interest and they will gladly give you further information and assist you with registration and other details.
